Splurge vs Save: Kate Spade Glitter Pumps

Ever since Kate Spade came out with these New York ‘Charm’ Slingback Pumps, I have been obsessed with them. At a retail price of $325, they are a bit pricey for how often I would wear them. I have finally found the next best thing for one-eighth the price.

The Qupid ‘Neutral-20′ Stiletto Glitter Pumps, although differing in style, looks nearly identical in color. The Kate Spade’s have a bit more silver glitter while the Qupid’s has more pinks. I actually prefer the style of Qupid shoe over the slingback pump because it is easier to wear this shoe with everything. It looks great with skinny jeans and a nice blazer for a fun spin on the typical business casual outfit. You can score this fabulous pair of glitter stilettos for only $39.90 on AKIRA.

Splurge vs. Save: Holiday Bow Ring

What better way to get into the holiday spirit than with a holiday bow ring? Initially, I thought this would be a cute & simple way to festively accessorize your outfit. After searching through the internet, I found that several people have already come up with this idea – including Kate Spade. They have everything from huge bow rings, to mini bow rings to a holiday bow ring cuff. All of these pieces can range from $65-$275 with one ring being only $18. Why splurge on any of these pieces when it is so simple for you to make yourself? Just take a simple gold or silver ring band, place the desired gift bow on top & secure as necessary (either by taping or tying).

Save your money this season & make your own DIY bow ring so that you have more money to spend on the things you really want!

Splurge vs Save: Friendship Bracelets

Mary Kate Steinmiller $60

DIY Friendship Bracelets

Friendship bracelets are not just for little girls anymore. Designers are now putting their own spin on the classic friendship bracelet. My favorite friendship bracelets were the ones designed by Mary Kate Steinmiller, market editor for Teen Vogue. They really gave off the essence of the classic friendship bracelet with more glam. At $60 they are definitely a splurge but still fun to admire. To save money, you can make your own friendship bracelets for cheap.

Mary Kate Steinmiller handmade bracelets can be found at Inven.tory and Charlotte Ronson stores, both in NYC.

Splurge vs. Save: Peace Bracelet

Surf Warehouse in Orlando $3.95

Nordstrom $88.00

In the most recent Nordstrom catalog, I found this dogeared leather wrap bracelet that I loved. The only problem? It was $88 and I wasn’t sure if I loved it THAT much. Still I went to check it out in the store. In the catalog, the bracelet is wrapped around the girls arm twice which looked really cute on her. In reality, it would have went around at least three or four times on me in order to fit. This bracelet is really long because it can double as a choker. Nice that its versatile but I know that I would only ever wear it as a bracelet so I would prefer it to be shorter. The long bracelet just looked awkward on my tiny wrists. Weeks later I found the exact bracelet I had been looking for. At Prime Outlets Orlando, I had went into a surf shop and as I was walking out, this bracelet had caught my eye. It looked very similar to the Nordstrom bracelet except it was actually a bracelet, shorter and you didn’t have to tie it. I was so happy that I had finally found the bracelet that I had really wanted and it was only $3.95!

If you like the dogeared leather wrap bracelet from Nordstrom, they offer it in both gold and silver.
